Benjamin Moore’s newest product is specially formulated for high-traffic commercial environments, is available in two sizes and more than 3,500 colors.
One of the many chores that building owners must complete once a resident moves out is re-painting the apartment. Whether or not the renter in question had children, pets, smoked, or other sources of wall damage, there are usually some scuffs and marks from moving furniture. Benjamin Moore, the well-known North American paint brand, recently released what it’s calling an industry first: scuff-resistant paint.
The new paint, Ultra Spec SCUFF-X, is specially designed for the kind of wear and tear experienced in commercial buildings, and is a one-component interior latex paint that provides more scuff resistance than similar products. Comparable products usually involve two components and have a strong odor, require pre-mixing or have a short shelf life. Benjamin Moore’s new product has none of the previously mentioned hassles and it is available in two sizes and more than 3,500 colors.
“Our proprietary scuff-resistant technology minimizes repainting, retouching and cleaning, while offering easy application, low odor and quick dry-time,” said Alfredo Valiente, Benjamin Moore brand manager. “The Ultra Spec line of coatings is the trusted solution for commercial contractors and introducing SCUFF-X to the portfolio will dramatically improve how professionals maintain the busiest areas of their facilities.”
The low-VOC paint makes it eligible for LEED credits, and its formula is specially designed to fit high-traffic areas like hallways, stairwells, lobbies and public restrooms. Ultra Spec SCUFF-X is quick drying, so it can accommodate quick unit turnarounds, and it can withstand repeated washing.
The new formula is available in Benjamin Moore’s signature array of colors and in gallon or five-gallon pails. It also comes in three different finishes: matte, eggshell and satin.
